Smart board HKMLC : special deal & opinion
Published on: 22-02-2025 / Modified: 22-02-2025
I’m not much of a planner when it comes to writing articles about products. Of course, I have guiding principles in what I do, but sometimes I take a detour to explore a new type of product. This time I’m going to dig into the universe of smart boards.
Why am I digging into this? Well, I have been testing Android smartphones and projectors for a while, a smart board is another way of combining those two products. In this article I will explore HKMLC’s smart board product range and, like for my other articles, you will get an exclusive coupon.

Who is behind HKMLC ?
HKMLC is an international company located in the USA and Hong-Kong manufacturing smart boards. They use proprietary molds developed in-house, they are not selling products from other brands like it is often the case. They have their own research & development team and they are focused on manufacturing products for the education, business and healthcare sector.
What is a smart board?

Smart boards are interactive touchscreen TVs with an operating system. It’s like having a giant smartphone screen where you can launch applications, give trainings or presentations, have video calls and much more.
Size is an important criterion, especially if you have a large audience. HKMLC has smart board screens between 55 and 75 inches, which would allow you to have people up to 5 meter around you for presentation and even further for video calls.
You can manipulate the screen directly with your hands or a pen, which would allow drawing or writing whatever you want on the screen. HKMLC screen can manage up to 20 simultaneous touches, which means that you could draw with all your fingers and toes at the same time (if you ever manage to do this, you should publish it on YouTube).
All of this wouldn’t have much sense if there was no operating system. HKMLC smart boards are running on Android or Windows which means that you will be able to access many applications directly from the screen without using an external solution (casting or plugged-in).
Most common use cases?

I see two primary use cases for this type of product, there are probably many others. The first and obvious one is using it in a meeting room, where you usually have a normal TV or a projector. With a smart board you would not only get a bright display, you would also get the ability to use applications without using a computer.
The second use case is for training. Having an interactive smart board can be very useful in classrooms. When I was a kid, there was nothing like this in school. I was very surprised to see this type of product in my son’s classroom. It’s not only very cool for kids, it is also very practical for the teacher.
You could also imagine having this kind of product at home for your personal use. I could use it as a drawing board or a tool to organize video calls. Of course, it might be a bit expensive for this type of usage but why not?
HKMLC product range

HKMLC has basically 2 product ranges: Explorer and Summit. In each product range you have smart boards with different sizes and features.

Their bestseller is the HKMLC Explorer Essential 55 inch. It’s the most affordable screen in this range and has many features:
- running on Android 11
- has a powerful CPU
- is compatible with wifi 6 for a very good connectivity
- can manage up to 20 touches simultaneously
- has a 4k screen resolution
- 400 cd/m² brightness (with automatic brightness)
- built-in microphone and speakers
It can be used in different ways. You can use it as a standalone product, you can use its USB and HDMI ports as input for content, you can use a wireless dongle on your computer, you can use Airplay and Miracast. It basically helps you to reduce the space needed in your meeting (or class) room environment.
With 72% of NTSC gamut, it’s not designed to watch HDR movies and with a refresh rate of 30hz, it’s not designed to play games.
The mobile stand is optional but you can attach the screen to a wall.
Installed applications have been adapted to work on a smart board so you won’t end up in situations where you launch applications designed for a phone. It sometimes happens on some projectors where you can operate the application because it was not designed for this type of use case. With this smart board, the number of applications is limited but they have been adapted for this specific purpose.

And here is another one:

The HKMLC boards are only available in the USA for the time being, that's why I haven't been able to test one of their product yet (as I live in Belgium).

Head of myself on this blog
I share my passions on my blog in my free time since 2006, I prefer that to watching nonsense on TV or on social networks. I work alone, I am undoubtedly one of the last survivors of the world of blogs and personal sites.
My speciality? Digital in all its forms. I have spent the last 25 years working for multinationals where I managed digital teams and generated revenues of over €500 million per year. I have expertise in telecoms, media, aviation, travel and tourism.
